Surface Transportation Board to Place Rail "Recordations" on its Website Beginning April 2, 2001

Surface Transportation Board (Board) Chairman Linda J. Morgan announced today that, beginning Monday, April 2, 2001, "recordations" filed with the Board on and after December 13, 1999, will be placed on its Website at www.stb.dot.gov. Recordations are filings of railroad equipment liens (claims on railroad property as security for the payment of a financial obligation).

Recordations will be electronically accessible via a newly installed "Recordations" link on the Board's Home Page. Users will be able to search recordations by party name, filing date, or recordation number, and view, print and download recorded lien documents.

The Board also is electronically scanning recordations filed prior to December 13, 1999, and will add them to the electronic "Recordations" database as they become available.

The Board is placing recordations on its Website to make them more accessible to the public.
