EP-724 SERVICE PERFORMANCE DATA NOW AVAILABLE IN A SINGLE EXCEL SPREADSHEET

In October 2014, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) issued an interim order, requiring Class I railroads to report certain service performance data on a weekly basis. The agency has been using this data to track the railroad industrys recovery from a sustained service downturn, which began in late 2013 and lasted throughout 2014.

Starting this week, the STB is making the service performance data available on its website in a consolidated format. The STB has created, and is making available, an Excel spreadsheet which captures reporting by all Class I railroads. The STB anticipates that this single spreadsheet will eliminate the need for stakeholders to download each railroads performance data after the weekly filings are made available on the STBs webpage. However, in providing the consolidated data, we have excluded State level reporting for Data Request Nos. 7 and 8 due to spreadsheet size concerns. Grand totals are provided for each of these items. The data also does not include Chicago-specific information, which is available on a weekly basis on the rail service data page. Updated spreadsheets will be available every Monday. To view the consolidated data spreadsheet, click here.

Finally, it should be noted that because data was, in some instances, manually re-entered based on the underlying filings, it is possible that the consolidated spreadsheet contains transcription errors. Please report any corrections to the agency at (202) 245-0238 or rcpa@stb.dot.gov.
