respective panels.

The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday, October 27, in the Board’s Hearing Room at its offices in the Mercury Building, 1925 K Street, N.W., in Washington. The Board’s October 2 decision in STB Ex Parte No. 573 stated that persons wishing to appear at the hearing and to make statements to the Board were required to submit their requests, and the amount of time needed to make their statements, by October 9, 1997; that the Board would issue a schedule for the hearing, a list of speakers and the time allotted to each by October 16, 1997; and that copies of speakers’ written statements must be filed with the Board by October 23, 1997.

In addition to the schedule issued today in STB Ex Parte No. 573, the Board also issued a separate decision prescribing information-filing requirements for the Union Pacific-Southern Pacific rail system in preparation for the Board’s hearing on rail service problems in the western United States.
