U.S. SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING IN MISSISSIPPI ON PROPOSED GRENADA RAILWAY ABANDONMENT

The U.S. Surface Transportation Board decided today to hold a public meeting in Mississippi on Grenada Railway LLC's proposal to abandon the southern segment of its line near Grenada, Miss.

The Board will hold the meeting at a place and time to be announced later in a separate Board decision.

On Sept. 20, 2011, Grenada Railway asked the Board for permission to abandon 81.3 miles of railroad between Grenada and Canton, Miss. On Sept. 20, 2011, the Mississippi Transportation Commission asked the Board to hold a public hearing in Grenada.
The Board meeting will be conducted by STB staff to allow the public and stakeholders an opportunity to comment on the proposed abandonment.

Today's decision, Grenada Railway LLC—Abandonment Exemption—In Grenada, Montgomery, Carroll, Holmes, Yazoo and Madison Counties, Miss., STB Docket No. AB 1087X, can be found on the Board's website, www.stb.dot.gov.
